PlusReport: McMahon Fighting Home ForeclosureReport: McMahon Fighting Home ForeclosureThe ociated PressEd McMahon, who for decades appeared as Johnny Carson’s sidekick on ‘The Tonight Show,’ is fighting to avoid foreclosure on his multimillion-dollar Beverly Hills home, according to published reports. (June 4)NATS UP– COMMERCIAL He made a career out of helping Americans’ dreams come true… But now Ed McMahon is reportedly the one in need of help. Johnny Carson’s longtime sidekick on “The Tonight Show” is allegedly in danger of losing his Beverly Hills, California mansion. The Wall Street Journal first reported McMahon is close to 650-thousand dollars behind in payments on his nearly 5-million dollar mortgage. The former “Star Search” host hasn’t been able to work since he broke his neck 18 months ago. McMahon’s spokesman says the 85-year-old pitchman and his wife are in “fruitful discussions” with his mortgage company to try work out a deal. McMahon’s real estate agent says the six-bedroom, five-bath house has been on the market for two years. It’s in a hilltop gated community that overlooks famed Mulholland Drive. But the agent says it’s been a tough sell, partly because pop star Britney Spears is a neighbor — and she attracts paparazzi. ___ ___, The ociated Press.

    Apologies OscTan. I …
Apologies OscTan. I mean agree with, not disagree with.

    No doubt he looks …
No doubt he looks at the houses 99% of people live in in the burbs and turns his nose up in disgust!!! Then he goes around with his hand out trying to save his rich with their hard earned cash.

As for the mold in his house, it did kill the dog. The reason the $7 million didn’t go far was the cost of repair and lawyers fees - we all know these things chew up everything from a legal settlement.

    OscTan, while I …
OscTan, while I would like to thank you for some great comments on this, that I wholeheartedly disagree with, I have to tell you something. That chick ain’t working. It won’t happen. She spent it all over the last 17 years they were married. She ain’t going back now. But it’s a very nice idea anyway. Who wouldn’t love to see that happen?

Also these baby boomers / silent generation always want everyone else to pick up the tab for them. They are a tumour on the world.

    some people, no …
some people, no matter how much money they have, don’t know how to manage it–you’d think he’d have backup plans for any crisis ever foreseen.

    Ed should be a …
Ed should be a multi-millionaire traveling the world. How can people fell sorry for someone that disregarded saving, planning, and investing. At 85 he should be happily retired, and his house should have been paid off years ago.

    Amazing. The head …
Amazing. The head of the senate banking committee, Mr. Dodd, got sweet heart deals from Countrywide right before the bubble. And he is over the regulators?

    Let’s correct a …
    Let’s correct a little misconception.

He didn’t “make a career out of helping Americans’ dreams come true.” The old goat sold magazine subscriptions spiced up with get-rich-quick come ons. Big difference. Now he’s blown his loot. Out of the house, deadbeat!

    I bet the gold …
I bet the gold digger wife blew through all the cash and Ed is too embarrassed to admit it.

    He got a $7M …
He got a $7M settlement for mold in that house, he bought it for less than that, so he MADE money on it. WTF did he do with all the money from the settlement? Why wouldn’t you pay it off. Ed, ya ed it away, your old, you’re gonna die in a few years. You’re not getting my sympathy buddy.

    He broke his neck …
He broke his neck 18 months ago? Funny how he didn’t wear the neckbrace at the opening of the Simpson’s movie? Ed, here’s a newsflash, your a sleazy Snake-Oil salesman with a gold-digger wife. Rumour has it that this is your 2nd Home.
Live off Social Security like 40% of all retirees you S#@MBAG!

    I don’t have class …
I don’t have class envy. Any person, wealthy or poor can lose their home if they don’t practice good financial management. I hope Ed gets through this all, and in the process, learns a lesson from this. Also, the poor guy is older now….he’s broken his neck, and it’s hard to work himself out of that hole when you’re up in years like this. Good luck to him. I wouldn’t want to see my grandfather out on the street….I know you wouldn’t either.

  19. collectube on July 2nd, 2009 1:52 am

    Damn two …
two celebrities losing millions: Ed McMahon and Holyfield. They can’t afford it.

Reason why people lose money is they can’t hire or can’t afford to hire people. This is why they lose everything.

  20. OscTan on July 2nd, 2009 1:52 am

    SHAMEFUL! SHAMEFUL …
SHAMEFUL! SHAMEFUL! SHAMEFUL! Sell your stinking home and downsize. NO SYMPATHY! TELL THAT WOMAN TO GO TO WORK! YOU TWO ARE PATHETIC! There are thousands of us folks who live in homes less than $100K and can barely pay the necessary living expenses and you’re crying over something that is worth $6Million. I’d picket your home if I lived there. SELL YOUR ING HOME IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD IT ANYMORE.

  21. OscTan on July 2nd, 2009 1:52 am

    Incredible! …
Incredible! Unbelievable! Outrageous! Ed and this woman go on Larry King and cry, looking for public sympathy and contributions because their 6Million dollar home is in foreclosure. SHAME ON YOU Ed. You earned millions in during your lifetime unfortunately you squandered it all living the “high life” and now you want the public to donate to your stupid, idiotic, lavish life style. Ed you deserve your situation man. No sympathy to you and to that woman. Tell her to work.

  22. honeycone1 on July 2nd, 2009 1:52 am

    what happen to his …
    what happen to his millions

  23. LostBoyyy on July 2nd, 2009 1:52 am

Am i the only one …
Am i the only one that gets this?? Its hard to feel sorry for someone that insists on living in a 6 million dollar home. This isnt anything like other people across america. I guarantee he wouldnt live in a 200,000 dollar home because of having to have that los angeles/beverly hills prestige. This is ridiculous!

  24. Jerseydogs on July 2nd, 2009 1:52 am

    I have NO sympathy …
I have NO sympathy for this guy.
He got $7 Million from his insurance company 6years ago on a trumped on claim that his house had “mold”. Where is that cash and all the money he made over the years? If he blew it on his wife (32 years younger them him) too bad. Make him work at the local foodstore to pay off his debts like the seniors in my town have to.
